The season begins on the road.

On opening night, the Columbus Wizards traveled to face the Glass City Wranglers, stepping into a tough environment to tip off their first campaign in The Basketball League.

From the opening tip, it was clear this would be a battle.

Both teams came out aggressive, playing with pace and confidence. Columbus moved the ball well early and found rhythm offensively, but Glass City answered with scoring bursts of their own, feeding off their home crowd and creating separation at key moments.

The Wranglers ultimately came away with the 113–107 victory, but the game itself told the story of two teams trading momentum throughout the night.

Columbus put together a strong offensive performance, finishing with 107 points on 50% shooting from the field and knocking down 9 three-pointers at a 37.5% clip. The Wizards also controlled the glass with 54 total rebounds, showing their physical presence inside.

Leading the way was Cameron Mitchell, who opened his season with 21 points on an efficient 7-of-13 shooting, including 3-of-6 from deep and a perfect 4-for-4 from the line.

Rasheed Brooks added 18 points on 58% shooting, attacking the defense and finishing consistently, while Jaiveon Eaves contributed 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting, helping control the tempo and create opportunities offensively.

Josiah Fulcher chipped in 11 points, while Jalen Robinson added 10 points and 4 rebounds in a steady performance.

Jay Farrow made the most of every opportunity, finishing with 10 points on a perfect 4-for-4 shooting night, bringing efficiency and energy on both ends of the floor.

Inside, Khiry Shelton gave a strong lift off the bench with 8 points on a perfect 4-for-4 shooting and 5 rebounds, while Mat Bingaya added 6 points and a team-high 8 rebounds.

Michael Davenport contributed across the board with 9 rebounds and 8 defensive boards, impacting the game beyond scoring.

But Glass City had answers.

The Wranglers were led by a dominant performance from C. Darrington, who erupted for 46 points, knocking down 5 three-pointers and going 17-of-19 from the free throw line, consistently putting pressure on the defense.

D. Pratt added 24 points, including four three-pointers, while K. Vaughn chipped in 13 points and M. Sierra contributed 12 points and 8 rebounds to round out a balanced offensive effort.

As a team, Glass City capitalized at the free throw line, finishing 23-of-27 (85.2%), which proved to be a key difference in the game.

Despite the loss, the Wizards showed toughness, depth, and a clear identity. The offensive efficiency, rebounding advantage, and balanced scoring all point to a team capable of competing at a high level as the season progresses.

Opening night is always about more than just the final score.

It’s about setting the tone.

And while the result didn’t fall their way, the Columbus Wizards proved they belong—and that they’re only getting started.
