The Columbus Wizards fell to the Grove City Whitetails 101–95 in the third matchup of the Cap City Championship, as Grove City responded with a strong performance to shift momentum in the rivalry.

After Columbus controlled the first two meetings, this contest marked a turning point—highlighted by the return of Avonte Jones, who rejoined the Whitetails after a call-up stint with the Lake Erie Jackals in the Basketball Super League.

Jones made an immediate impact.

He led all scorers with 32 points on 11-of-17 shooting, including 6-of-8 from three-point range, adding 4 rebounds and 3 steals while setting the tone offensively.

Grove City connected on 13 three-pointers, using perimeter shooting to create separation despite shooting 41.1 percent overall.

Phillip Bledsoe II added 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Corry Long contributed 12 points and Cam Sembly controlled the glass with 11 rebounds.

For Columbus, Jay Farrow led the way with 22 points, converting all eight free throw attempts.

Michael Davenport added 20 points and 8 rebounds on efficient shooting, while Mat Bingaya contributed 14 points and Josiah Fulcher added 9 points and 7 rebounds.

The Wizards shot 45.5 percent (35-of-77) from the field but struggled from beyond the arc, converting just 5-of-24 (20.8%) from three-point range, limiting offensive rhythm.

Despite competing on the glass, Grove City’s perimeter shooting and the impact of Jones proved to be the difference.

With the loss, the Columbus Wizards move to 6–5 on the season, while the Cap City Championship series now stands at 2–1 in favor of Columbus.

After controlling the first two matchups, the Wizards now face a renewed challenge as the rivalry continues to intensify.
