The Magic is Building: Excitement Grows for the 2026 TBL Season

It’s starting to feel real.

The Columbus Wizards are officially gearing up for our first season in The Basketball League (TBL) and the excitement around what’s happening on and off the court is hard to put into words. From the very beginning, we knew this next chapter would be something special, but seeing it come to life has been incredible.

Our journey kicked off with over 60 players showing up for tryouts, each one hungry for an opportunity to wear the Wizards uniform. The talent, effort, and energy in that gym were unreal. Now, we’ve taken the next step, moving into invite-only open gym runs where competition is fierce and the atmosphere is electric. Every possession matters. Every rep counts.

At the center of it all is Head Coach Ray Corbett, who’s stepping into his first year at the professional level. He’s got his work cut out for him, sorting through all this talent, building chemistry, and setting the tone for what’s to come but if you’ve seen him in action, you know he’s enjoying every minute of it.“Man, these guys can play,” Coach Corbett said with a smile after a recent session. “They’re hungry, they’re coachable, and they’re building something together. That’s what it’s all about.”

All of this is building toward one big moment, the first official day of training camp on February 5th, 2026. Only the best of the best will earn an invitation to camp, and every player knows what’s on the line. The work they’re putting in now is laying the foundation for something special once the season tips off.

For us, this isn’t just about basketball. It’s about building something the entire Columbus community can be proud of. A team that represents hard work, respect, and a commitment to doing things the right way. Every day we get a little closer to tip-off, and the buzz keeps growing.

The talent is there. The culture is forming. The magic is real.
